The newest addition to Leeds’ thriving and unstoppable scene at the moment is Post-Punk’s Dead Naked Hippies. Their new single ‘I Can’t Wait’ confirms them as one of the frontrunners of the movement, the city itself as a resurgent, established capital of new music and Dance To The Radio as the label nurturing the sound as it has done so many times in it’s 12 year history.

‘I Can’t Wait’ sees Dead Naked Hippies channelling Savages and The Kills Incorporating raw, emotional vocal delivery, driving and heavy percussion with layered wall of sound level guitar lines. In their own self-fulfilling prophecy the band said it best themselves – It’s ‘Gritty Pretty Post-Punk’ at its absolute peak.

Enigmatic frontwoman Lucy Jowett candidly explains, ‘I Can’t Wait is our gut reaction to those who are sucked so far into the system they’ve forgotten they’re alive. It’s an optimistic outlook on leaving them behind. We’re constantly being told to sell ourselves short to the point that we’re scared stiff to move. Creative outlets are deemed insignificant and unproductive because they serve no purpose to the system.’

The band’s live shows have a reputation all of their own: urgent, loud, vital and vigorous. Having stormed the Dork stage at this year’s Live At Leeds festival to a packed out crowd and blowing the minds of all in attendance at Hit The North Festival they have announced two new dates for September at the Old Blue Last, London (15th September) and Hyde Park Book Club, Leeds (27th September).

24th Aug – Dance To The Radio Stage – Leeds Festival

15th Sept – The Old Blue Last – London (Free Entry)
