Our iconic Earl Polo Shirt, which has been a hero piece for us since 1955, returned bigger and better than ever during Autumn/Winter 16! To celebrate this hero piece and give it the respect it deserves, we put together a photo shoot of bands & artists rocking the legendary Black Earl Polo Shirt in London.

Up next in our legendary Black Earl Polo Shirt is London 5-piece, NOVA NEON!

N.N boast a carefully crafted a set of dynamic and ambient groove based songs, which are powerfully evocative and memorable. Vibes packed with an intricate mix of syncopated beats, bass riffs and masterful guitar. Synth hooks which capture you, coupled with an unmistakably powerful, soulful vocal, make them one the most captivating live acts around.

Nova Neon have bossed prestigious venues across the country, including  The Garage, The Barfly, 93 Feet East, The Borderline with mega festival appearances at The Isle Of White Festival, and are now a  SoFar Sounds firm favorite!

Their debut album that dropped back in September ’16 and was full of the encapsulating melodies we’ve come to know and love from Nova Neon. The band look to kickstart 2017 in style with a host of gigs, including storming Independent Venue Week sets.

We caught up with team Nova Neon for an exclusive Q&A! Check it out below:

1. What does it mean to you to ‘Be An Original’?

It means that we are associated with a brand that we really like. As a band we love the clothes and would wear them even if we were an ‘Original’ or not. It really suits are style and brand. It’s also really great that Original Penguin to support new music and we are proud to be part of this campaign and the celebration of this classic polo top.

2. Tell us about your latest release?

Stone To Balloon just came out last week and it’s had rave reviews from many radio stations and online blogs, calling it ‘mesmerizing’, ‘beautiful’ and ‘heartbreaking’. It’s a love song about a broken relationship, where one person is fighting to keep it alive whilst the other one drifts. The metaphor of stone to a balloon is used to reflect that – one person acts as the stone (the rock of the relationship) whilst the other is the balloon (the drifter). In a working relationship, the two counter each other harmoniously – but in this case, it’s the emotional realisation that it no longer works that drives the song.

3. Who’s your top ICON and why?

Right now, we’ve gotta go for a Prince, a superbly talented musician, songwriter and performer that encompasses all the tributes of a mega-star. There is no other artist like him. His writes and performs songs that literally no other artist would get away with. He has already been missed and his influence has changed the face of pop music.
